In My Garden

Image
my garden has been neglected while I have been recuperating  but I was lucky enough to have friends who helped with the basics. These two cactii were in the backyard, unnoticed until one day they just blossomed.  Just shows what you can achieve with sheer neglect. 😊

Crocheted Tea Towels

Image
A while since I have posted. Haven't been doing much craft  while recovering from surgery but I have managed a bit of crocheting  for an outlet shop in the country.

Craig

Image
A bit of time has passed since I have been crafting or blogging  but slowly starting to find my way back.  Early in March my son Craig passed away after a 3year fight against brain cancer. He will be forever loved and forever missed by us all.  During this I also had a second knee replacement so my craft room  has become quite redundant for a couple of months. I have been doing a bit of beading and some lego but sitting for any length of time  has been a problem.   I have a few projects to show you over the next little while and hopefully things will be back to normal soon

Building Bricks Ice Cream Van

Image
A bit of  a different craft to share today. My children surprised me with  a Lego set for Christmas last year . It was a bit of a joke/ payback for something I sent to them however I really enjoyed building it. I recently bought this Ice Cream Van and although it is not Lego the principle is the same. I made it over a couple of nights , just under 600 pieces and quite small at 15cms long and 5cms wide. Lots of fun

Swagman

Image
Since I have moved into the village I have had lot so of requests for cards, some a little unusual, most of them a challenge but I think this was up there with one of the most unusual.  A man who lives here asked if I could reproduce this sketch into some form of art work .  His Grandfather had come to Australia many, many years ago and  lived the life of a swagman travelling Queensland looking for work. He had written a book of his travels and drawn this sketch and placed it in the  back of the book. I am no drawer or painter but I really wanted to do something for this man. I water coloured the background, then used various dies for the trees, house, windmill and wagon. The outhouse and lean to shed were cut freehand and the swagman is a printed image which I coloured. I added some flower soft  to the trees and the gardens . He was very happy with the finished product.

Moving House

Image
I recently moved from our home of 30 years into a village a couple of suburbs away.  After the long process of  selling and packing and garage sales and lots of self inflicted stress and anxiety, things are settling down nicely. Most of my boxes are unpacked and safely in their new homes but my craft room is still a work in progress. Hopefully this week will see my new craft cabinet installed and the rest of the boxes unpacked and then back into some serious crafting.  Have quite a few orders waiting to be done so I am quite looking forward to getting back into it and hopefully have a few more cards and projects to share with you.  For now, here a a few photos of my new home.

Craft Mad Monthly Swap

Image
Our Craft Mad Monthly swap for February was to swap at least 10 die cuts . I got a bit carried away but I always have a ready cut stash  so I added in a few extras for my partner.

Ron passion was the Fire Service and he spent 30 years as a firefighter and another 5 years as a senior fire education instructor with the seniors in our community, then 12 years as an examination assessor with junior fire fighters at the Academy.   He will be always loved, always missed and never forgotten.
